Symbols Associated with Halloween
Halloween is associated with a variety of symbols, imagery and artefacts which has developed and changed over time. These symbols typically have a horror, supernatural or gothic theme, often derived from similarly-themed movies and literature. Common, traditional characters of this theme include ghosts, monsters, demons, devils, skeletons, bats, vampires, werewolves, and witches. Other Halloween symbols, such as pumpkins and scarecrows, are associated with the autumn season. Furthermore, black and orange are the colours most commonly associated with Halloween. During Halloween celebrations, a combination of these symbols, colours, and imagery provides the theme for costumes and home decorations.
